There’s a new group on the Olympic Peninsula participating in cold water therapy! Founded by Lindsay Terrell, she’s hoping to build a stronger and more permanent community cold plunging, surfing, and soaking up all cold water magic.

Swim for Shelter started 17 years ago when a group of friends decided they wanted to turn their love for open-water swimming into something more: a way to give back to their community. Now, this annual, fund-raising swim challenge across the Colvos Passage, is the open-water swimming event of the summer for Gig Harbor, Washington.

Warm Current hosts community surf camps on the Washington coast for Native youth in partnership with the Makah Indian Nation, Quileute Nation, Hoh Indian Tribe, and the Quinault Indian Nation. They teach Native youth to surf, empower them to explore their ancestral waters, and share the benefits of outdoor recreation in their own backyard.

Surf Vamps is a Seattle-based in-person inclusive surfing community that is female focused, but open to all. They provide meet-ups, surf lessons, and other opportunities to connect in person along the Washington Coast.

Coldwater Collective hosts cold plunge events throughout the Seattle area. Their mission is to make cold immersion fun and accessible. They exist because cold plunging is excellent for your health and believe it’s a lot easier and more fun to go with a group.

PNW women's surf culture celebrated today began with NW Women's Surf Camps in 2005. 20 years later and 2000+ women and girls taught has tipped the scale, cold-water women surfers have arrived. Connection, Empowerment and Transformation awaits you this summer with NW Women’s Surf Camps.

Babes on Waves is an Oregon-based cold water surf club and non-profit for women who shred rain or shine. They envision a world where women and girls are uplifted, confident, and equal partners in surf culture.

Selkie Soul Work is an Oregon based holistic surf & ocean therapy and blue health & eco-therapy program that utilizes a research-based curriculum focusing on deepening and healing the mind-body-soul connection using ocean play as a healing modality.

Alanna is a marine biologist with a decade of marine science education experience on the Oregon Coast and a wild love of food. Join her for a variety of workshops centered around connecting people and place through wild foods.

Based on Vancouver Island, Bitches 'n Barrels is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering inclusion in the surf. Through community-building events in Victoria and accessible surf trips to Tofino, they are committed to creating an inclusive and safe environment for anyone who identifies as a woman or nonbinary to learn and progress in the water.

Surf Sister is a surf school located in Tofino, BC, and offers lessons for surfers at every level all year long. They also founded the famous Queen of the Peak, an annual all-women’s surf contest all about showcasing and celebrating the amazing female talent we have on the west coast.

Single Fin Sessions offers intentional surf coaching by Lydia Ricard, Finisterre ambassador and cold water surfer local to Tofino, B.C. This program is for the enthusiastic longboarder, competitive surfer, or simply someone who wants to improve their surfing with helpful tips and tricks.

Dean Burke, “Tacoma and the Sea”, has been photographing people in the water for years, long before it became popular. His eye for all things wonder and beauty in the Puget Sound is unmatched. He’s spent many years observing this underwater world, and has captured countless women gracefully experiencing this cold environment.
